What is Weatherization and the Weatherization Assistance Program?

Weatherization improves energy efficiency and lowers utility bills by ensuring your home operates as a system while focusing on air infiltration and exfiltration.  Eligible households receive a comprehensive home energy audit at no cost to identify inefficiencies and health and safety concerns.  A certified energy auditor will inspect the entire home, inside and out, using advanced equipment and techniques.  The energy audit will identify a customized account of areas for cost-effective improvements.  Health and safety concerns may need addressed before receiving Weatherization assistance.  Based on a home's audit results, improvements may include:

  • Sealing of drafts and air leaks, caulking doors and windows, weatherstripping
  • Testing, cleaning and repairs of heating and cooling systems and water heaters
  • Adding insulation to ceilings, walls, floors, and foundations
  • Lighting, refrigerator, and fan upgrades

All qualifying Weatherization services and upgrades are provided free of charge by our certified energy auditors and contractors.
